the
endless
fields
of
provence
lining
the
bottom
drawers
of
carefree
lovers
on
sunny
holiday
we
were
watercolour
paintings
heavy
with
liquid
and
bleeding
into
ugly
pools
of
dripping
grey
we
were
decomposing
lemons
filling
a
silver
bowl
to
welcome
distant
business
men
to
far
away
lands
with
foreign
protocol
we
were
pulp
in
the
mouth
of
a
small
child
tasting
paper
like
it
was
candy
we
were
dead
roses
tucked
in
amongst
a
fragrant
bouquet
of
orchids
and
babies
breath
by
the
nimble
fingers
of
an
underhanded
florist
we
were
wildfires
set
by
careless
campers
silencing
acres
of
trembling
woodlands
in
whispering
forests
deep
below
mostly,
though
we
were
farewell
before
we
ever
even
finished
smoothing
out
the
nervousness
of
our
first
lustful
