merry christmas eve, to one and all, sierra is fast asleep,as she had a very busy day.
we made chocolate chip cookies, for santa, and she wanted to leave 3 for him, as well, as 8 baby carrots, for his reindeer. and so we did, and she decided to leave them, by the fireplace, so that santa will see them. Too say that she is excited would be an understatement.
my grandmother and father, are finally arriving, this evening, after both had many flight delays and cancellations to deal with. my father, has been stuck for 2 days, first in iowa and then in chicago, and his plane finally touched down this evening, at 9 pm, a mere 59 hours since he left his apt in iowa on sat morning.
sierra will be thrilled to see them both, as nanamama is coming all the way from florida, and it has been a year since we last saw her. sierra adores her, though and we talk to her all of the time.
this christmas will be a bit quieter, than years previous, because my two darling nieces and sister and brother in law, will not be joining us, for the first time, ever, as my sister, is expecting baby number 3 imminently and too pregnant to travel, even 4 hours by car.
and me, i am filled with a profound sense of gratitude for being part of such a loving family and having such an animated, engaging, sweet little girl, who fills every day with so much joy. i know that she is dreaming, right now, of all magicalness of santa, and it is so amazingly uplifting to be a part of a small childs life. they fill your heart and imagination to the brim with love and wonder, and her illuminating smile literally lights up my whole world.
and it is my wish, that your christmas be merry and bright, too.
